Dr. Jacqueline (Jackie) Hebert MD FRCPC - Chair
Dr. Jackie Hebert is the Clinical Director of the Adult Amputee Program at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, and Associate Professor with the University of Alberta in the Faculty of Medicine.
Dr. Hebert’s clinical and research interests focus on the advancement of interdisciplinary rehabilitation care of persons with amputation. Her themes of research include rehabilitation treatment after amputation, biomechanics of prosthetic function, and amputation rehabilitation outcomes. Dr. Hebert has accepted the position of Chair of the Medical Advisory Council of the Amputee Coalition of Canada in hopes to advance care and support for amputees across Canada. Her professional goal is to improve the comprehensiveness and continuity of quality care for all amputees, and to advance rehabilitation knowledge and expertise in the treatment of persons with amputation.
Linda McLaren
Linda has run the outpatient amputee program at GF Strong Rehab Center in Vancouver since 1991. She is the regional representative for the Peer Visitor Program in British Columbia, and co facilitates the once monthly Amputee Support and Education Group. She is a guest lecturer at BCIT in the Prosthetics Program, and is an eclectic practioner with high expectations for ability and outcomes.
Carole St-Jean
Carole St-Jean graduated as a prosthesist from École d’Orthèse et Prothèse du Québec in 1981. Specialized in the fabrication of prosthetic for the lower extremities, she obtained her canadian certification in 1983. Carole worked as a certified prosthesist in Newfoundland, Norway and Seatle, US until 1987. She has since been working at Institut de réadaptation Gingras-Lindsay-de-Montréal . She has been involved in different organisations and projects related to her work : project for osteointegration, the CBC exams and for AQIPA (the Quebec association for health care professionals involved in amputee care) as a Board Member and on the Organizing Comittee of many Conferences.
Edith Boulianne
Edith Boulianne has been working as a prosthetist at Institut de réadaptation en déficience physique de Québec in Quebec City since 1997. She has been a Board member of AQIPA, the Quebec association for amputee care, since 2006. Involved in the training of Peer Visitors in the Quebec City area, she is the regional representative for the Peer Visitor Program in Northern Quebec.
Kyle Goetl
Kyle Goettl RN, BScN is the nurse clinician for the amputee rehabilitation program based at St. Josephs Health Care, Parkwood Hospital in London Ontario, part of. He is a member of the Canadian Association of Wound Care, the Canadian Diabetes Association and is a graduate of the International Interprofessional Wound Care Course through the University of Toronto. He is also a member of the Chronic Wound and Skin Health Care team at Parkwood Hospital. He is currently completing the Masters of Education Program at the University of Western Ontario.
Marie-Eve Demers
Marie-Eve Demers obtained a Bachelor of Sciences in Occupational Therapy at the Laval University in 2000 and has been working with individuals with limb loss at the IRGLM (Institut de réadaptation Gingras-Lindsay-de-Montréal) since 2001. Very involved professionally, she is also a guest lecturer at both University of Montreal and McGill University in the OT Program on issues concerning individuals with limb loss. She is the Chair of AQIPA, the Quebec association for amputee care, and has co-chaired the last two Conferences presented by this association.
Patrick Gross
Patrick Gross graduated from the University of Manitobain 1997 with a Bachelors of Medical Rehabilitation in Physiotherapy. He has worked with individuals with limb loss for 9 years. Currently he works at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg as the Amputee Intake Coordinator. He is a certified trainer for the peer visitor program and is the regional representative for Manitoba.
Penny Durnford - Penny Durnford, MSW, RSW
Penny is the Social Worker for Acute Care Vascular Surgery at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII Health Sciences Centre.
The QEII HSC has recently received training for amputee peer support: Train-the-Trainer and peer support training for formalizing a long standing tradition of peer support at the QEII.
Penny is an active member of the QEII Social Action Committee, the Ethics Consultation Support Team, and Vascular Surgery Quality Committee. She also guest lectures on health care social work at Dalhousie University School of Social Work.
Michele Sealy
Michele Sealy graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1989. She has been working with adults with amputations since that time at St Joseph's Health Care (London). The adult amputee program is part of Parkwood Hospital's Regional Rehabilitation Unit. Michele and Stephanie Beadle are sharing the role of Regional Representative for the ACC in Southwestern Ontario.
